Communications Intern

The Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) is the only international business association in the world focusing on the promotion and the development of renewable energy off-grid solutions for rural electrification in developing and emerging countries.
An essential part of ARE’s mission is to advance the views and positions of the off-grid sector to policy makers and relevant stakeholders in the field of rural electrification. To achieve this we develop technological, political and financial recommendations that are based on the experience of about 70 members, coming from all sub-sectors of the off-grid renewable energy value chain.
Additionally, ARE promotes awareness and best practice in social responsibility and sustainability within the industry.
The Alliance is seeking to recruit a ‘Communications Intern’ from April to September (full-time):
Key tasks:
  •  Draft content (publications like press releases, newsletters)
  •  Media monitoring and analysis
  •  Maintenance of information databases and mailing lists
  •  Day-to-day management of the Alliance’s social media
  •  Meeting and event support
  •  Online research / Competence building in the field of Central- & South America
Qualifications and skills:
  •  A University graduate with work experience in Communications/ Public Affairs, preferably with focus on developing countries and on the energy / environment sector
  •  Previous experience in an international environment or non-for-profit organisation (European Institutions, NGOs, Companies etc.) desirable
  • High level of English written and spoken; knowledge of further languages (particularly Spanish, French, Portuguese or German) would be an asset
  •  Ability to provide clear, concise and technical deliverables under time pressure
  •  Strong organisational and computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, social networks)
  •  Self-contained, flexible, efficient and a good team player
