Conservation and Science Intern

This is a 3 months paid position – starting day: 8th April 2013

Description of tasks to be undertaken by the trainee

The selected Trainee will work in the conservation and science team, giving support to work on a range of issues on the protection of wild bird species.

The intern’s responsibilities will include

  • Gather experts feedback on power lines and birds;
  • Collect info on windfarms and birds;
  • Work on reports on illegal killing and trade of birds;
  • Update inventory Species Recovery plans;
  • Support on tracking data and marine IBA table updates compilation;
  • Support to Marine task forceProfile of Trainee.

Qualification: Educational Qualifications/Vocational Training

  • At least a relevant Bachelor’s Degree in biology or related disciplines with knowledge of environmental issues;
  • Knowledge of birds;
  • Very good written English;
  • High levels of flexibility, dedication and sense of responsibility;
  • Well organised and with attention to detail.

Personal and Social Skills

Good team work skills, ability to work independently and take initiatives. Well-developed social skills. Ability to work in an International environment.

Language Skills

The intern should be able to communicate and write in English. Additional language skills, eg. Spanish, Russian are a plus.

Information Technology (IT) Skills

Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, …), text editing skills.
