Internship at Caritas Europa

Caritas Europa is the network of Caritas organisations on the European continent. The united strength of its 49 members, present in 46 European countries, makes of Caritas Europa one of the major social actors in Europe. Caritas Europa is also one of the seven regions of Caritas Internationalis, the biggest network of Catholic charities in the world devoted to reducing poverty and campaigning for social justice. Caritas Europa focuses its activities on issues relating to poverty, social exclusion and inequality, migration and asylum in Europe. On the global level, Caritas Europa is actively engaged in humanitarian assistance and international development throughout the world. With a view to further develop its advocacy work Caritas Europa is seeking to recruit a (m/f):
Advocacy Intern (full time, 4 months April –July)
Economic Conditions: Unpaid internship
Starting: 9 April 2013
Duration: 4 months
 
Tasks:
Policy and advocacy
 
1. Assist the unit in research and analysis on current and emerging Caritas Europa (CE) advocacy themes
2. Follow EU Institutions policies and input policy updates
3. Take part in advocacy meetings and conferences, take minutes, draft reports
 
Event/campaign support
4. Support the organisation of Caritas events in terms of administration and logistics and reporting in cooperation with the responsible policy and advocacy ,officer
5. Ensure administrative follow up of the different campaigns/events, including communication on social media, in cooperation with the Communicatins unit
 
Support to Advocacy Working Groups
6. Needs assessment of Working Group members
7. Gather testimonies/good case studies from Member Organisations
8. Support in the preparation of an identity document of CE advocacy unit
 
Other
9. Support the other units where appropriate following a request by the relevant Head of Unit (HoU) and upon approval by the HoU advocacy
10. Participate in Advocacy Unit and team meetings and inform the Unit members on progress in fields of work.
 
Profile:
  • Bachelor or Master in European Law, Administration, Management, Political Science or EU and international studies;
  • Fluency, both oral and written, in French and English. The working language is English;
  • Developed organisational skills with an entrepreneurial attitude;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Reporting skills;
  • Self-motivated, helpful and dedicated team player, able to take responsibility and initiative as part of a small office team;
  • Result orientation: Knowledge and application of PCM;
  • Excellent IT and computer skills in all Windows applications;
  • Experience in working within or with EU institutions and EU-funded projects, or international organisations is an asset;
