Public Affairs Intern Albemarle

Responsibilities:
  •  Collecting technical facts and figures (EU fire data ,number of fire associated damages or casualties) as well as policy information (energy mix, resource efficiency, recycling, air policy, industrial policy, chemicals management, etc.) from internal and external sources;
  •  Supporting the Advocacy team in developing accurate and consistent arguments, updating existing messages and fine tuning messages depending on the audience;
  •  Monitoring the legislative process when needed;
  •  Attending events organized by the EU institutions and reporting back to the Advocacy team and other relevant departments within Albemarle Europe;
  •  Assisting in the preparation of presentations, letters to EU institutions, trade federations or companies/downstream users along the value chain; drafting of talking points on policy and regulation of particular interest;
  •  Helping in enhancing the dialogue and work with national trade associations: support the Advocacy team to contribute to the work of the associations, help them in maintaining the contact with key representatives and in profiling the activities of Albemarle in its different aspects;
  •  Assisting in drafting of the Albemarle newsletter (collecting interesting and relevant stories internally, doing interviews with colleagues, drafting articles, layout) ;
  •  Assisting in the organization of events destined to external stakeholders (sites’ visits, breakfast meetings, etc): draft and circulate invitations, draft press releases, elaborate and circulate agenda, identify speakers, help with the logistics, etc.
The profile:
  •  You have an academic master degree in European politics, international relations or communications or you are currently finalizing your master degree.
  •  You have previously demonstrated an interest and an ability to understand technical and complex issues and you have good analytic and synthesis skills.
  •  You are an excellent networker and communicator. You have good presentation and reporting skills. 
  • You are a native speaker or fluent (written and verbal) in English. French, Dutch or German are a plus.
  •  Knowledge of EU chemicals legislation (REACH, RoHS, Water Framework Directive etc.) is an asset.
  •  Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment.
  •  You will be based in Louvain-la-Neuve with regular activities in Brussels.
