Description

Through its internship scheme, the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) benefits from the input of young enthusiastic graduates, who can give a fresh point of view and up-to-date academic knowledge, which will enhance the everyday work of the FRA. Internship programmes are offered in the following FRA departments:
The aims of the traineeships are:
  • To provide an understanding of the objectives and activities of FRA;
  • To enable trainees to acquire practical experience and knowledge of the day-to-day work of FRA Units and services;
  • To enable trainees to put into practice knowledge acquired during their studies, and in particular in their specific areas of competence;
  • To allow interns to contribute to the Agency’s mission in helping to make fundamental rights a reality for everyone in the EU.
The internship may last a minimum of three (serving as a trial period) and a maximum of 12 months.

Eligibility

Internships are offered to graduates who have completed at least the first cycle of a higher education course (i.e. university education) and obtained a full degree or its equivalent no longer than 18 months before the closing date for applications. Interns are selected from nationals of the Member States of the European Union and EU candidate and potential candidate countries. Successful candidates will have a background that is relevant to the activities of the Agency, such as human rights; law; social and/or political sciences; international relations; communications and public relations. Candidates with a background in human resources, finance and procurement, project management, information technology and online communications can also apply. Interns are requested to have a very good knowledge of English and another EU language.

Remuneration

Interns will be awarded a monthly grant of 1000 EUR net. Internship starting on 16th of the month will be awarded half of the grant. Interns whose place of selection at the beginning of the internship is more than 50 km from Vienna are entitled to a reimbursement for the travel expenses incurred at the beginning and end of the internship.

You can apply for only one of the FRA departments, incl. the Directorate. Candidates applying for more than one department will be automatically rejected. Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria or are incorrectly submitted will be rejected. FRA will not return applications to candidates. For further information on how to apply, please refer to the generalApplication Instructions. No employment of any form can be offered following the end of the internship period unless through a recruitment procedure with a vacancy notice published on the FRA Website.
The deadline for applications is 7 March 2014, at 13:00 (Vienna Local Time). The FRA offers internships once a year, starting on 1 September.
