2014-2015 Warwick Taught Masters Scholarship Scheme in UK

University of Warwick invites applications for masters scholarship to study in any department in the 2014-2015 academic year. Scholarship will contribute to course costs and living expenses. Applicants must have been offered a place on a taught Masters, postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma programme to be eligible for this scholarship. Scholarship will cover the full tuition fees of the course except for non- standard fee courses (cover a minimum of £7,050 towards tuition fees). The application deadline is 16th June, 2014.
About Scholarship: The University of Warwick is pleased to announce an innovative scholarship scheme totaling £600,000 for postgraduate taught masters students. The scholarship will contribute to course costs and living expenses. The scholarship scheme is part of a Higher Education Council for England (HEFCE) initiative aimed at removing barriers to postgraduate education. The scheme is open to applicants who are applying for entry to postgraduate study in 2014/15. You do not have to have undertaken your degree course at the University of Warwick to be eligible to apply.

Course Level: Scholarship is available for pursuing taught Masters, postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma programme at the University of Warwick.

Eligibility: Scholarships are available to students intending to study in any department and who satisfy the following main criteria. (Departmental criteria may also apply and details of these will be given shortly.)
-You have been offered a place on a taught Masters, postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma programme at the University of Warwick for the 2014-15 academic year.
- You are a Home/EU student liable to pay tuition fees at the ‘home’ rate.
- You satisfy the course entry criteria for the programme to which you are applying.
- You are self-financing and will not receive any external sponsorship or funding towards the costs of your proposed postgraduate course.
-You have not previously undertaken study at postgraduate level or already hold a Masters or PhD level qualification.
- You meet one or more additional criteria listed below:
1) You have been an undergraduate Home/EU student in receipt of a means tested bursary from your undergraduate University in the UK and/or Maintenance (or Special Support) Grant support from the UK Government.
2) You have been an undergraduate Home/EU student prior to 2006 at a UK institution and you have been in receipt of -Higher Education Grant and a tuition fee grant from the UK Government.
3) You are currently in receipt of at least one specified UK government means tested benefit or tax credit from the list given below. Please note that only these benefits listed can be considered: Income Support, Income based Job Seekers’ Allowance, Income related Employment and Support Allowance, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Universal Credit, Working Tax Credit and Pension Credit.
4) You entered University at undergraduate level from a Care background or as a Foyer resident.
5) You received DSA (Disabled Students’ Allowances) as an undergraduate student and/or you currently receive DLA (Disability Living Allowance), Attendance Allowance or PIP (Personal Independence Payment).

Scholarship Open for: UK/EU students can apply for this masters scholarship.
Value:
-For standard fee courses the scholarships will cover the full cost of your tuition fees for the 2014-15 academic year (or pro-rata equivalent for part-time study).
-For non- standard fee courses the scholarship will cover a minimum of £7,050 towards your tuition fees (or pro-rata equivalent for part-time study). The level of award will depend on your course of study.
-For Certificate and Diploma courses, the scholarship will cover the full cost of your tuition fees for the relevant course.
-In addition, students will receive a non-repayable bursary of £4,000 (or pro rata equivalent for part-time, Certificate or Diploma study) to help with course costs which will be paid to you in 4 equal installments.

Selection Criteria: Priority will be given to students who can demonstrate that they satisfy more than one of the additional criteria above and you should provide evidence for each criterion you meet. In addition, preference will be given to students with the highest academic qualifications or the most relevant experience in their field.
Notification: Applications will be acknowledged and students will be notified of the outcome as early as possible after that date.
Apply: To apply, you should download and complete the Warwick Taught Masters Scholarship application form. In support of your application you must provide clear and unequivocal evidence that you meet at least one of the additional criteria. If you are claiming eligibility on the basis of having received a Maintenance Grant, Special Support Grant, Assembly Learning Grant, Scottish student bursaries, Higher Education Grant, Tuition Fee Grant or DSA during your undergraduate degree this will be a copy of your Student Finance England, Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, Student Awards Agency for Scotland or Local Education Authority assessment letter as applicable for the relevant year. Regrettably, applications from students who do not provide the necessary supporting evidence cannot be considered and will be rejected. In addition to the application form you will be required to provide a supporting statement of no more than 250 words outlining your achievements to date and how you consider the award of a Warwick Taught Masters Scholarship will assist you to succeed in postgraduate study. Completed applications, together with all supporting documentation, should be sent to the Student Funding Office, Senate House, University of Warwick via post.
Deadline: The application deadline is 16th June, 2014.
