Policy Internship American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium

This internship position is to be filled as of the week of April 20, 2015, full time, 6 months. A full-time job could be offered to the candidate who successfully completes this internship.
1. Job description:
Responsibility for preparatory work on “The Importance of US Companies in Belgium: Their Community Impact” publication which will be released in November 2015. Involvement in the development of policy work in the areas of Healthcare and the Digital Economy. A number of other diverse tasks may be assigned depending on the intern’s abilities.
2. Main tasks:
1. Collecting US company investment and employment data, and validating this data with those companies.
2. Collecting information on US companies’ activities regarding CSR, ensuring data accuracy, and corresponding follow-up actions.
3. Establishing contacts with those responsible for CSR in US companies to ensure a representative sample.
4. Preparing the daily press review.
5. Writing blog posts for the website and contributing to other publications.
6. Researching and disseminating information on CSR, Healthcare and the Digital Economy.
3. Intern Profile
The Chamber is looking for a person with a background in business/economics, public policy, international relations or related field. Requirements include excellent writing, research, data manipulation and analytical skills; strong telephone etiquette; English as mother tongue; knowledge of either French and/or Dutch (ideally both); a high degree of accuracy with a good eye for detail; a strong sense of responsibility; the ability to work independently and in a team plus a good knowledge of MS Office applications (other IT skills are considered a bonus).
You will aim to provide members with high-quality, professional service and should be aware that your duties will also involve basic administrative tasks such as answering member requests by e-mail and telephone or researching information for members. Your ideas and suggestions for improving projects and services will be welcomed, however, and you will be encouraged to actively participate in the Chamber’s projects.

AmCham Belgium is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to improving business and investment opportunities for the US-Belgian business community.  With approximately 900 US groups in Belgium, AmCham Belgium plays a pivotal role in an evolving business environment by focusing on three key areas: policy shaping, knowledge-sharing and networking.

Interviews will take place April 16 - 17, although selected candidates may be invited for an interview earlier. All selected candidates will be tested on their knowledge and skills.
