Stage - Public Affairs

Burson-Marsteller Brussels is looking to fill a six-month stage within its Environment practice, starting in September.

Candidates must have an interest in and understanding of the EU policy and decision-making world, possibly through a degree in European studies and prior experience within the EU institutions. Knowledge of EU policies related to environment is helpful, but we are looking for independent thinkers, creative individuals and team players who want to join in and learn about consultancy on the job.

Environmental issues cross borders and therefore so does public affairs in this field. Work done by the Brussels Environment team covers the full spectrum of public affairs at national, European and UN level.

Work in the Brussels Environment team ranges from helping clients navigate the intricacies of EU policy making to supply chain mobilisation. Issues covered range from the environmental concerns of the day, such as biodiversity, food waste and the circular economy, to the all-important details of compliance with EU environmental law in areas such as eco-design, water quality and substance approval.

Candidates would support the team, notably by carrying out daily monitoring and research on policy developments. He or she would attend team meetings and would be heavily involved in client work, participating as a junior consultant in client projects, writing reports, preparing briefings, helping to organise and attend events, engaging with media etc.

Legal eligibility to work in the EU is a must. The candidate must have excellent spoken and written English.
